World COPD Day
Raising awareness of COPD worldwide
World COPD Day brings health care groups and respiratory educators together in
an effort to raise awareness of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) throughout the world.
The event builds on the success of the first World COPD Day, held 20
November, 2002, which brought together health authorities, physicians,
patients and families to raise awareness of COPD.
World COPD Day is organised by the Global initiative for Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD). They
are active in more than 70 countries around the world identifying local issues and local activities that help contribute to goals of
COPD prevention and reducing the morbidity and mortality associated with COPD.
For further information, see the GOLD
website.
